ODC, the first dental college in the Sultanate of Oman, admitted its first cohort of students in the academic year 2006/7 in September 2006. Oman Dental College is undergoing a period of intense growth as it approaches steady state in 2012 when the first cohort is due to graduate with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) awarded by ODC.

It has always been ODC’s intention to play an active and informed role in achieving the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, for both the Higher Educational and Healthcare sectors in Oman and to this end, ODC is in the process of completing a new state-of-the-art dental college and hospital to benefit both citizens and residents. This consists of outpatient dental clinical facilities with multiple dental chairs, X-ray facilities, and laboratories, a Central Sterile Supply Department, an operating theatre and a research centre together with the requisite academic facilities in the College.  These facilities are equipped to the highest standards using the latest technology available.

In addition to providing a dental training base in Oman, the dental clinical teaching hospital will provide outpatient dental facilities that will significantly increase the number of dental chairs and dentists available to the general public in the Sultanate, thereby improving patient access to quality dental healthcare at very affordable rates.
